We are excited to announce that the California Department of Education has partnered with High Tech High to deliver a unique professional development opportunity exclusively designed for California Career Pathways Trust (CCPT) Round Two Grantees: the Career Pathways Project Based Learning (PBL) Leadership Academy.
About the Career Pathways PBL Leadership Academy
With support from state funding designated for technical assistance services for CCPT grantees, the Career Pathways PBL Leadership Academy features fall and spring Leadership Institutes at High Tech High (HTH), opportunities to develop collegial partnerships with current HTH teachers, and online collaboration with colleagues from throughout California. Regional and local CCPT consortia teams will soon be invited to enroll in the Career Pathways Trust PBL Leadership Academy that will bring together cohorts of Career Technical Education (CTE) and content-area faculty, administrators, and other educational leaders involved in the implementation of CCPT-funded career pathways.
The CDE and HTH have designed the Career Pathways PBL Leadership Academy to enable participants to:
Work alongside CTE thought-leaders from across the state in fall and spring Leadership Institutes at HTH:
Observe a variety of PBL and CTE classrooms and meet with practicing educators and students;
Develop best practices and new programming for career and college readiness; and
Learn how to integrate internships with classroom-based PBL.
Partner with HTH teachers in San Diego, online, and at your site:
Collaborate on grant-supported leadership projects, cross-curricular work, and career and college readiness strategies throughout the year;
Co-design a two-day professional development session facilitated at your site with your HTH teacher-mentor.
Engage in thoughtful dialogue with reflective practitioners online and face-to-face.
Transform your practice:
Develop and complete an original leadership project with colleagues at your site.
Expand the use of PBL practices that emphasize deeper learning competencies.
Improve the delivery of career pathway programs that blend academic and CTE content.
Save the dates:
The Fall Leadership Institutes is October 19–21.
The Spring Leadership Institutes is March 15–17.
All Leadership Institutes are held in the new HTH Forum, located at 2150 Cushing Road, San Diego, CA. The Forum is part of the Pt. Loma HTH Village of schools, as well as a short walk from hotels, restaurants and shops.
